Moving Day......

 

The last year has been wonderful for me, I've made tote bags from vintage postcards, plastic pin brooches from old paper dolls, I then turned some of these into greetings cards and Christmas ornaments..

I've made silver  jewellery....and ceramic heads.

I've made jewellery from prints and photographs, I've made digital collage, decoupage and fabric, cushions, soft dolls and teddies.

 

 

Attending fairs, running my Etsy shop and my permanent bureau shop at GO4 Market Café has certainly kept life varied, and very, very busy.

 

 

It has left very little time for sculpting and doll making though, and to be honest, that has made me a little bit sad. So I've decided to close the bureau shop.

My last day, full time will be next Saturday 28th June.

I'll still be "popping" up at GO4, and at vintage and handmade fairs, so keep an eye out for dates soon..... and I hope that I will be able to update the Etsy shop more regularly, with dolls, jewellery and quirky accessories......

Plan? What Plan?

I really do suffer from a short attention span, and am prone to undertaking new projects on a whim, and this week's impromptu project was a total shop makeover.....

 

My cabinet shop in Go4 Market Café is a mid-century teak bureau.

 

 

I had secretly always wished that I had had a 1950's larder unit to create my shop in though, so when I came across this teak shelf unit, operation shop expansion was born!

 

 

The open back on the shelf didn't suit my needs, so Mr Dottie was recruited to help me in my makeover frenzy.......

 

I have developed an unhealthy interest in digital collage lately, so I made some backing sheets, using my vintage magazine collection.....

 

These were pasted onto a back board....

 

 

.....and attached as a back for the shelves, to house Dottie's wares

 

 

I made some paper and ribbon bunting, using more digital collage....

 

 

 ......and this morning we put the whole thing together!

 

The tote bags can now be seen on the side.....

 

.....and the cushions and stuffies are cosying up in the suitcase

 

I'm quite pleased with how it has turned out, and it gives me quite a bit more space to display my work for sale. Hope you can pop by for a visit! 

 

Now I really must get back to playing with clay!!!!!

and the Xerography exhibition at Firstsite 

(also booked tickets to see War Horse there in February!)

Busy, Busy Week!

It's been a busy week at Dottie HQ.........

 

First there was the amazing Secret Vintage Fair, which was held in the former Grand Theatre in Colchester High Street. It is now a night club, but retains many of it's original Edwardian features.

 

We met some lovely people, heard some great music, and generally had a wonderful day!

Then it was back to work, preparing to move into my teeny new shop.....

 

 

We set up today, and a selection of my products will now be available 6 days a week at GO4 Market Café right in the centre of Colchester

The café is located in the oldest church in Colchester, serves amazing food, coffee, cake and ice-cream and really is the place to go if you love the unusual!

 

It's packed with vintage & handmade goods, and has what I'm sure are the friendliest traders in Town!

Tomorrow I'll be having a pop up stall in the Market Café, then it will be time to update the long neglected Etsy Shop. I feel like I've done so many events this month that the virtual shop has suffered a little, but keep your eyes peeled next week, as I plan to make amends!
