Throw Back Thursday

I managed to miss Wordless Wednesday this week, so I thought I'd do a cheeky little Throw Back Thursday post to make up for it!

'Fleur' 1997 Michelle Grant

Back in the late 1990's I was creating original wax over porcelain dolls, in limited editions of 10 dolls, each uniquely costumed. This version of 'Fleur' has handmade leather boots, a hand bound leather book, hand smocked cotton dress, and felted woollen jacket. She is 19" tall.

Weekend of Work

I've been working (although it seems more like playing) all weekend on my little Li-Qua-Che doll.

Adding a flesh tone base coat

Features painted, and some of my favourite stripey socks!

Blushing and antiquing finished

Stringing and underwear coming together

She's been cast from a commercial mould from Recollect, of a Kestner googly doll, mould number 111. I've always had a soft spot for googlies, but this is definitely not a reproduction, more of an interpretation.....I prefer to paint eyes on my dolls, so she does not have glass eyes like the original, and I'm not a fan of the heavy eyelashes on the antique doll either....I also decided that she ought to have striped socks, just like me!!

Up next will be a suitable outfit, and some tiny hairstyling, so watch this space...

I'm loving working with Li-Qua-Che, and am already planning to create other, more altered versions of this little Kestner, she's going to be, I hope, a happy member of the Dottie Dollie family!

Hopefully I'll list some more jewellery and Dollie things next week, I've been so bust playing with Paperclay, La Doll and Li-Qua-Che, I'm dying to get a doll (or two) together......

Dog Days....

We have a tiny guest here at Dottie HQ this week. Lolly the pug / French bulldog cross is holidaying with us whilst her family are away....

Lolly exploring.....

Trying to see over the fence....

Relaxing with a toy....

She's a real live wire, so work will be a bit hit and miss for the week! I've only managed to get a few photos of her, as she's normally dashing around, and impossible to capture with the lens. She does like a long nap after her morning walk though.....

So today I managed to get a few Etsy listings done.

Two versions of my largest brooch, Pansy, are available for the first time online.

Pansy Red Hair

Pansy Lilac Hair

I've also added two more Timothy's, he's such a cutie!

Timothy Lime Green Hair

Timothy Brown Hair

Whatever you're doing this bank holiday weekend, have a great time! We're not making any plans, as it's all a bit of a whirlwind...... :0)
