As you can probably see, I don't believe that old saying!!!
I love shades of teal, petrol blue, baby blue and all shades of aqua, and I'm pleased to say, so does Dollie.
It's taken a bit longer than expected, but it's been so much fun, and at last she's finished.
She is my interpretation of a Kestner Googly 111 antique doll, she is not a reproduction as such, but I hope she makes you think of a 1920's child's play thing.
Cast in Li-Qua-Che slip, she has been painted, and antiqued using acrylic paint. Sealed with ceramic sealer, and strung with elastic. She is jointed at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees.
She has a golden blonde mohair bob, vintage buttons and bows head band, all cotton ditsy floral dress, and cotton and lace embroidered undies.
I absolutely love her chubby cheeks, and she has that impish grin that you will see over, and over in my work...... because it just speaks to me, it makes me smile.
Tomorrow it's back to the clay I think.....and I predict that I will be casting another of these dollies really soon too.
Very pleasant.
